MANILA — Operational responsibility for more than 2,100 closed-circuit television cameras at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) has been formally transferred to New Naia Infra Corp. (NNIC) under a concession agreement between the Department of Transportation, the Manila International Airport Authority, and the private operator.
The handover of the airport's surveillance network represents a key component of Naia's modernization initiatives through the public-private partnership framework. The camera systems monitor passenger terminals, airside operations, cargo areas, and other critical infrastructure across the airport complex.
The agreement consolidates management of the airport's security and monitoring capabilities under private sector oversight while maintaining coordination with relevant government agencies. The transfer is expected to enhance operational efficiency and system maintenance at the facility, which handles the majority of the country's international air traffic.
Details regarding specific performance standards, maintenance protocols, and government oversight mechanisms of the surveillance system under NNIC's management were not immediately disclosed. The arrangement reflects broader efforts to upgrade infrastructure and services at Manila's primary aviation hub.
