Prolonged rains claim 15 lives in flood-ravaged Bulacan province
Bulacan has been declared under a state of calamity following weeks of heavy rainfall that resulted in 15 deaths and three injuries across the province. The provincial disaster management office documented numerous drowning incidents as flooding swept through affected communities.

The province of Bulacan continues to grapple with the devastating aftermath of weeks of persistent heavy rain, which has claimed 15 lives and left three others injured, according to the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO). The declaration of a state of calamity was issued on August 20 as floodwaters inundated numerous communities across the region.
Among the fatalities documented by PDRRMO were 86-year-old Gener Arcega Dimacali and 20-year-old Laverine Velasco, both of whom drowned during the height of the heavy downpours. The drowning deaths underscore the dangers posed by the sustained flooding that has affected residential areas throughout the province.
The calamity declaration enables Bulacan to access emergency funds and coordinate disaster response efforts across municipalities and cities impacted by the flooding. Provincial officials have been coordinating relief operations and assessing damage to infrastructure and agricultural lands.
The extended period of rainfall has raised concerns about waterlogged conditions persisting in low-lying areas, with residents warned to remain vigilant against further flooding as weather patterns continue to develop across the region.
