MANILA — Two officials from the Land Registration Authority told the impeachment court on Thursday that real property acquisitions by lawyer Manases Carpio, spouse of Vice President Sara Duterte, did not correspond with entries documented in her statements of assets, liabilities and net worth.

The testimony marked another development in the ongoing impeachment trial examining whether the Vice President accumulated wealth that remains unaccounted for in her official financial records. The discrepancies between registered property ownership and SALN declarations form a central component of the impeachment case against Duterte.

The LRA officials presented documentation showing property transactions linked to Carpio that were absent from the Vice President's reported assets across multiple years of SALNs, required annual filings for all government officials.

The presentation of evidence prompted heated exchanges among impeachment court members and legal representatives, underscoring the contentious nature of the proceedings as they continue examining the financial records and asset declarations in question.
