Property fraud suspect arrested in Maharashtra after evading authorities
Police in Maharashtra have arrested Rahul Srivastav, accused of running an elaborate property scam that defrauded farmers and buyers across the state. The suspect allegedly purchased agricultural land from farmers, created layouts, and collected payments from customers without transferring plot ownership.

Rahul Srivastav, a property fraudster wanted for multiple offenses, was apprehended in Thane following an investigation by the State Task Force. According to police, Srivastav operated a sophisticated scheme targeting both landowners and property buyers across Maharashtra.
The accused would purchase agricultural plots from farmers at lower prices, develop layouts for residential projects, and subsequently collect substantial sums from prospective buyers. However, authorities allege that Srivastav systematically failed to transfer plot ownership to customers despite receiving full or partial payments, effectively disappearing with the funds.
Investigations revealed that Srivastav was not working alone. He maintained a partnership with an associate in Maharashtra through which he continued his property dealings. The collaboration allowed the accused to expand his operations across multiple districts, complicating tracking efforts.
Following his arrest in Thane, police have launched further inquiries to identify additional victims and recover illegally obtained funds. Authorities are investigating the extent of the fraud network and the involvement of his business associates in the scheme.
