MANILA – Prosecutors in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial moved forward with their evidence presentation on Wednesday, introducing witnesses for Article II of the impeachment articles during the 24th day of proceedings.

The article under examination covers allegations of unexplained wealth accumulation, violations of the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) requirements, and the vice president's alleged failure to divest from various financial and business interests as required by law.

Batangas Representative Gerville Luistro, serving as the prosecution's lead counsel, directed the presentation of testimony designed to establish the factual basis for the charges. The prosecution's strategy centered on demonstrating inconsistencies in financial disclosures and the accumulation of assets that the prosecution contends cannot be adequately explained by legitimate income sources.

The Article II charges represent one of the most substantive claims in the impeachment case, focusing on questions of financial accountability and compliance with transparency requirements governing government officials. The proceedings continued before the Senate sitting as an impeachment court.
