MANILA – Prosecutors in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial have petitioned the Senate impeachment court to compel the testimony of three military officers as the high-profile case enters its third week.
The House prosecution panel requested on Monday that colonels Manaros Boransing II, Magtanggol Panopio, and Adonis Bajao of the Armed Forces of the Philippines appear before the court on Wednesday, Aug. 26, according to court records.
The summons request represents a significant development in the trial, which has drawn national attention as it proceeds through the Senate. The specific roles of the three officers and the nature of their expected testimony were not immediately disclosed.
