MANILA — The Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) has issued a formal condemnation of a podcast that featured mocking remarks about Kris Aquino's son Josh, who is autistic, according to statements released by the organization.
The controversial content appeared in an episode of "Machong Chismisan," a podcast hosted by five male personalities. Host Tito P made discriminatory comments about the child during the broadcast. The episode has since been deleted from circulation.
The PAP used the incident to call for greater sensitivity and ethical standards among digital content creators operating in the Philippines. The organization emphasized the responsibility of media personalities to avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes and stigma surrounding individuals with autism and other developmental conditions.
The criticism reflects growing concerns about the treatment of disability-related topics in Philippine media and entertainment platforms. Mental health professionals have warned that public mockery of individuals with developmental disorders can reinforce societal prejudices and negatively impact awareness and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder.
The PAP's statement underscores ongoing efforts by professional organizations in the country to promote more responsible and inclusive content creation practices across digital and traditional media platforms.
