Public universities, colleges to observe nine-day Deepavali break

Public universities and colleges across Malaysia will observe a nine-day Deepavali break, the Ministry of Higher Education confirmed. The extended holiday allows students to return to their hometowns to celebrate the festival of lights with their families. To ensure academic continuity during the break, the ministry has instructed institutions to facilitate online and hybrid learning options for students who choose to travel during this period. Academic staff have been directed to prepare materials and sessions in both formats to accommodate those participating remotely. The arrangement aims to balance festive observance with educational commitments, allowing learners flexibility in how they manage their studies during the holiday period. Institutions are expected to coordinate with their academic departments to ensure seamless transition between on-campus and remote instruction methods during the break.
