MANILA — The Sandiganbayan's Fifth Division has scheduled Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon to testify for the prosecution in the corruption trial of former congressman Zaldy Co, the antigraft court announced on Wednesday.
Associate Justice Maryann Corpuz-Mañalac of the Fifth Division set Dizon's testimony for later this month as the prosecution pursues its case against Co over an alleged anomalous flood control initiative in Oriental Mindoro province.
The case centers on accusations that Co was involved in irregularities related to a multimillion-peso flood management project. The appearance of Dizon, a high-ranking government official overseeing public works matters, is expected to provide key testimony regarding the disputed project's implementation and procurement processes.
The Sandiganbayan, the country's specialized court for graft and corruption cases, continues to hear evidence as the trial progresses against the former lawmaker.
