Puchong chicken plant used electric current 13 times halal limit

A chicken processing plant in Kampung Sri Aman Hilir, Puchong, was found to be using electric current levels up to 13 times higher than the permissible halal limit during a raid conducted as part of Op Taring Chiller, according to police investigations.

The facility, which has a daily processing capacity of approximately 40,000 chickens, was operating without proper adherence to halal slaughter standards. The excessive voltage used in the processing operations raises concerns about compliance with Islamic dietary requirements and animal welfare standards.

The operation was part of a broader enforcement initiative aimed at ensuring compliance with halal certification and processing standards across the poultry industry. Authorities have not disclosed whether the plant possessed valid halal certification or what action will be taken against the operators.

The discovery highlights ongoing concerns about the enforcement of halal standards in Malaysia's food processing sector, particularly in high-volume commercial operations. Regulatory bodies continue to monitor processing facilities to ensure adherence to both religious requirements and established safety protocols.
