Punjab CM Mann hits back at CBI raid, calls it BJP political ploy

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday rejected suggestions that a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into his office was anything but a political maneuver by the Bharatiya Janata Party. His comments followed a High Court direction to the CBI to investigate corruption allegations linked to his official residence and camp office.

Mann claimed the timing and nature of the investigation reflected electoral strategy rather than genuine administrative concerns. He questioned the motives behind the High Court's decision to involve the federal agency in what he characterized as politically motivated accusations.

The BJP countered Mann's allegations, urging him to refrain from attributing political motivations to a judicial order. Party representatives maintained that the High Court's directive should be treated as a legal matter independent of partisan considerations and that Mann's framing of the issue was inappropriate.

The High Court had directed the CBI to examine corruption-related allegations after a petition raised concerns about financial irregularities. Both the Punjab government and the BJP are expected to cooperate with the investigation as it proceeds through formal channels.
