Punjab Drug Smugglers Use Tractors, Luxury Cars to Hide Heroin

Two separate drug trafficking operations in Punjab have revealed starkly different approaches to concealing and transporting heroin, underscoring the ingenuity employed by smuggling networks in the region.

In one case, authorities in Moga district arrested individuals accused of using an agricultural tractor fitted with a hidden compartment and concealed speaker box to transport heroin. The modified farm vehicle, commonly seen on Punjab's roads, provided cover for moving contraband across the state without attracting suspicion from law enforcement checkpoints.

In contrast, another investigation involved suspects allegedly using a luxury BMW sedan to facilitate drug distribution. The high-end vehicle represented a sharply different smuggling strategy, prioritizing speed and mobility over the inconspicuous nature of agricultural transport.

The divergent tactics reflect how drug trafficking organizations in Punjab adapt their methods to exploit local conditions and bypass law enforcement. While rural areas see exploitation of farm vehicles and agricultural cover, urban networks leverage expensive cars that blend into city traffic patterns.
