A photograph of independence leader Bhagat Singh has surfaced in the voter list for Ludhiana East in Punjab, raising concerns about the accuracy of the electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections. The image allegedly appears against the name of voter Aman Kumar on the voter register.
Former legislator Sanjay Talwar brought the discrepancy to light, claiming that at least nine incorrect photographs were found at Booth Number 38 alone. Talwar has called for a thorough verification of voter records across all 235 polling booths in the constituency to identify and rectify such errors.
The incident highlights potential lapses in the voter registration process and has sparked broader questions about the integrity of electoral data in the state. Election authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the scope or cause of the errors, nor have they provided details on remedial measures being undertaken.
Punjab has witnessed multiple administrative irregularities in its electoral processes in recent years. The discovery comes at a time when electoral preparedness and voter roll accuracy remain critical concerns for election management bodies across India, particularly in states preparing for upcoming legislative elections.
