The gangster, who had evaded law enforcement for an extended period, was traced to Ethiopia where he had reportedly fled to escape prosecution. His deportation follows coordination between Indian authorities and international law enforcement agencies, underscoring efforts to track down criminals sheltering abroad.

The Punjab Government had previously declared a substantial reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the fugitive's capture, reflecting the priority assigned to his apprehension. The case is linked to multiple serious offences including murder and organised extortion activities that have affected residents across the state.

Upon his return to India, the accused has been taken into custody by Punjab Police for questioning and further legal proceedings. Officials indicated that the investigation into his criminal network and alleged accomplices would continue.

The successful deportation demonstrates enhanced cross-border coordination in tackling organised crime, particularly cases involving fugitives who seek refuge in foreign jurisdictions. Authorities are expected to pursue additional charges based on evidence gathered during the investigation.
