Punjab Police ASI Shot Dead in Tarn Taran District

Assistant Sub-Inspector Iqbal Singh of Firozpur Police was shot dead in the Naushahera Pannua area of Tarn Taran district, police said. The officer was returning from a local gurudwara when he was attacked, according to initial reports from law enforcement officials.

The incident has heightened concerns over officer safety in the region. Tarn Taran Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing and are working to identify the perpetrators.

The shooting comes approximately a month after Singh's nephew was also killed in a similar incident, suggesting a possible pattern of targeted violence against the family. Police officials have not yet disclosed details about the earlier incident or whether the two deaths are connected.

Authorities have registered a case and launched a manhunt for those responsible. Senior police officials visited the scene to oversee the investigation into what officials described as a brazen attack on a serving officer in broad daylight.
