The directive was issued by the Inspector General of Border Range following the recent murder of ASI Harjeet Singh in Amritsar, officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police in Amritsar Rural, Batala, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot have been instructed to implement enhanced security measures for their personnel. The advisory reflects growing concerns over the vulnerability of uniformed officers in regions bordering Pakistan, where law enforcement faces heightened operational risks.
The move aims to reduce visibility and potential targeting of police personnel during vulnerable transit periods.
