Punjab & Sind Bank Reports 40% Jump In Q2 Profit Amid Improved Asset Quality

Punjab & Sind Bank posted a strong quarterly performance, with net profit surging 40 percent to Rs 412 crore for the quarter ended September 30, driven by robust growth across its lending and operational metrics.

Net interest income, a key indicator of core lending profitability, grew 22 percent year-on-year to Rs 1,161 crore, while the bank's operating profit climbed 22.3 percent during the same period. The growth trajectory reflects improved business momentum and better utilization of the bank's asset base.

Asset quality metrics showed encouraging signs with provisions falling to Rs 52 crore, indicating reduced stress in the loan portfolio. The improved provision coverage suggests the bank's credit underwriting has strengthened and existing stressed assets are being resolved more effectively.

The bank's performance comes as the Indian banking sector continues to navigate a competitive operating environment. Punjab & Sind Bank's results demonstrate sustained profitability and operational efficiency, positioning the lender favorably amid broader macroeconomic headwinds affecting credit growth and deposit mobilization across the sector.
