MANILA — The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) requires P500 million in additional funding to complete construction of a stalled nine-storey academic building on its main campus, according to Pinoy Workers party-list Rep. Karl Josef Legazpi.
Legazpi highlighted the budgetary shortfall on Wednesday as the university continues efforts to advance the infrastructure project. The building was designed to be executed across three phases, with the overall timeline extending beyond initial expectations.
The academic facility represents part of PUP's campus modernization efforts to enhance teaching and learning spaces for its student body. The university has yet to provide a revised timeline for project completion pending budget allocation.
The funding gap underscores the financial challenges facing Philippine public universities as they seek to expand and upgrade infrastructure to meet growing enrollment demands and improve educational facilities.
