Putin praises Musk as 'real genius' following SpaceX satellite discussions

Vladimir Putin has publicly lauded Elon Musk as a "real genius" in the wake of discussions between the SpaceX founder and Russian officials concerning satellite operations. The Russian president's remarks underscore the ongoing dialogue between Moscow and the American entrepreneur on matters related to space technology.

Putin indicated that contact with Musk remains regular and substantive, describing their communication as "close." The statement suggests a degree of direct engagement between the Kremlin leader and the billionaire entrepreneur despite broader geopolitical tensions between Russia and the United States.

The comments represent a notable public acknowledgment from Putin of Musk's capabilities in the aerospace sector. SpaceX's Starlink satellite network has emerged as a significant infrastructure asset, with implications spanning commercial, military, and humanitarian applications across multiple regions.

The nature and scope of the satellite discussions between SpaceX representatives and Russian officials remain unclear from available statements. Putin's characterization of Musk suggests the Kremlin views engagement with the entrepreneur as potentially consequential to Russian strategic interests in space technology and communications infrastructure.
