Putrajaya MP urges wider government action on stray dog problem

Radzi Jidin, the Member of Parliament for Putrajaya, has urged the government to implement a broader action plan to address the proliferation of stray dogs across the country.

Radzi said the initiative should begin in Putrajaya itself, where he noted that the stray dog population has not yet reached critical levels compared to other areas. By establishing a framework in the federal administrative capital, the approach could then be scaled up to other regions facing more severe challenges.

The call comes amid growing concerns about stray dog populations in urban and suburban areas throughout Malaysia. Local authorities have previously reported difficulties in managing and controlling the issue, which affects public safety and community welfare.

Radzi's proposal suggests a phased implementation strategy, with Putrajaya serving as a pilot location for testing and refining the government's approach before wider deployment. The approach would potentially allow authorities to identify effective methods and address implementation challenges in a controlled environment.

The government has yet to respond to the parliamentary call for expanded action on the stray dog issue.
