QUEZON CITY — Police have arrested a 24-year-old man accused of stealing four maintenance-free car batteries from a compound operated by a water utility in Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District identified the suspect only as 'Jose' after apprehending him at the water company's facility. Officers said the man was caught during the alleged theft on the premises.
The stolen batteries, valued at thousands of pesos, were part of the water company's maintenance equipment stored at the compound. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident and processing charges against the suspect.
The arrest comes as authorities intensify efforts to combat theft of industrial and commercial equipment in the metro, where such crimes have become increasingly common.
