Quad Summit scheduled for Manila during ASEAN meet in November

The four-nation grouping will convene during the ASEAN Summit scheduled for November 16-17 in Manila, marking a significant diplomatic gathering in Southeast Asia. US Secretary of State Rubio stated that while specific dates remain to be finalized, the summit would proceed as planned. "We are going to do it in Manila, at the ASEAN conference," Rubio said in remarks to the media. "We look forward to being a part of that at ASEAN here in just a few weeks."

The convergence of the Quad leadership with the broader ASEAN framework underscores the strategic importance both groupings hold in regional security and economic cooperation. The United States has expressed enthusiasm about holding the summit before year-end, signaling its commitment to strengthening ties within the informal alliance.

This will be the first Quad Summit since India took on the grouping's rotating presidency. New Delhi had initially planned to host the Quad Leaders' Summit previously, but the gathering did not materialize due to uncertainty regarding US President Donald Trump's participation. The Manila summit represents a reset in the Quad's engagement schedule and an opportunity for the four leaders to discuss shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific region.
