Quang Ninh pivots foreign investment toward advanced manufacturing

Quang Ninh Province is reshaping its investment strategy to prioritize advanced manufacturing and technology-intensive industries, positioning foreign direct investment as a cornerstone of sustainable economic growth. The policy shift reflects a wider provincial commitment to move beyond low-value production toward higher-quality manufacturing sectors.

Foreign capital inflows during the first eight months of 2026 totaled nearly $1.13 billion, underscoring sustained investor confidence in the province's economic prospects. The processing and manufacturing sector emerged as a particular bright spot, expanding by more than 31 percent during the same period—a robust performance that signals deepening private sector engagement in industrial production.

The strong manufacturing growth reflects Quang Ninh's deliberate targeting of FDI projects that require advanced technical capabilities and skilled workforces. This marks a departure from earlier development patterns and aligns with national objectives to upgrade industrial output and reduce dependence on labor-intensive production.

Provincial authorities have indicated plans to continue attracting investment partnerships with multinational corporations and technology firms. The initiatives are expected to support job creation in higher-value sectors while strengthening Quang Ninh's competitive positioning within Southeast Asia's manufacturing landscape.
