Quang Tri province has identified the Cua Viet-Cua Tung-Con Co Island triangle as a strategic zone for marine economic expansion, according to provincial planning documents. The designated area combines established seaport facilities with a robust fisheries sector, positioning it as a natural hub for maritime commerce and resource development.
The provincial strategy encompasses multiple economic pillars including commercial fishing logistics, maritime transport services, and island-based tourism development. Officials cited the region's abundance of marine resources and existing infrastructure as key advantages in attracting investment and generating sustainable economic growth.
The initiative comes as Quang Tri strengthens oversight of its fishing fleet to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing activities. The province has also allocated 90 billion Vietnamese dong for landmine clearance in six communes and is exploring unmanned aerial vehicle technology for forest protection, reflecting broader provincial development priorities.
The coastal triangle development plan represents part of Quang Tri's broader effort to capitalize on its geographic advantages while addressing environmental and social challenges inherent to marine-dependent economies.
