Quantedge Foundation commits $50m to social mobility initiatives in Singapore

Quantedge Foundation has pledged $50 million towards enhancing social mobility across Singapore, marking a significant commitment to addressing economic inequality and opportunity gaps. The funding will support multiple programmes designed to improve access to education, employment, and economic advancement for lower-income individuals and families.

A centrepiece of the initiative is the establishment of a new collaboration space in the Bukit Merah district, which will serve as a hub for community engagement and social mobility activities. The venue is expected to facilitate networking, skill-building, and resource-sharing among residents and partner organisations.

Complementing these efforts, the foundation will undertake an extensive research study examining more than 3,000 lower-income households. The research aims to understand how social networks influence economic mobility and advancement, potentially identifying key factors that enable or hinder progression out of poverty.

The initiative underscores growing focus among Singapore's private sector on tackling social inequalities and ensuring broader-based economic participation. By combining infrastructure development with evidence-based research, Quantedge Foundation seeks to generate insights that could inform future policy and intervention strategies for enhancing social mobility.
