LUCENA CITY — Quezon authorities have enacted a sweeping ban on alcoholic beverages in cemeteries throughout the province during the 'Undas' season, which marks the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
The directive, formalized through Executive Order No. DHT-30, prohibits the bringing, drinking, distribution, and sale of liquor and other alcoholic beverages within cemetery grounds. The four-day restriction is intended to maintain order and decorum as thousands of residents visit burial sites to pay respects to deceased family members.
The provincial government said the measure aims to foster a safe, peaceful, and solemn atmosphere during the traditional observance, when cemeteries typically see heightened foot traffic and extended family gatherings. Officials emphasized that the ban applies uniformly to both public and private burial facilities across Quezon province.
The liquor prohibition is part of broader guidelines issued by the provincial administration to regulate activities during the 'Undas' period. Authorities have urged cemetery visitors to respect the order and cooperate with enforcement personnel stationed at burial grounds throughout the province.
