Quezon City's health department reported 5,589 dengue cases through September 24, marking a concerning trend as weekly case numbers continue to exceed established alert levels for the metropolitan area. The sustained elevation in weekly cases has prompted health officials to maintain heightened surveillance across the city's barangays.

Despite current concerns, the overall caseload represents a substantial improvement compared to the corresponding period last year, down by approximately 35 percent. This year-on-year decline suggests that existing disease control measures and public health interventions have had measurable impact on dengue transmission rates across the city.

The outbreak has resulted in 24 dengue-related deaths reported in Quezon City to date. Health officials continue to urge residents to take precautionary measures including eliminating standing water sources where mosquitoes breed and seeking immediate medical attention for fever and related symptoms.

Quezon City, as the Philippines' most populous city, remains a critical focus area for national dengue surveillance and control efforts. Authorities have intensified community outreach and vector control operations to bring weekly case numbers below alert thresholds.
