The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced the recovery of the sport utility vehicle on Wednesday, following a complaint lodged at the District Anti-Carnapping Unit on September 17. The case stemmed from a breakdown in mortgage negotiations involving the vehicle's owner and another party.
Operatives from the QCPD conducted surveillance and tracking operations that led them to locate the 2024 Mitsubishi Montero in Mandaluyong City. The vehicle was subsequently seized as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
The recovery comes as authorities continue to address rising vehicle theft cases across Metro Manila. The QCPD's Anti-Carnapping Unit remains committed to investigating complaints related to stolen or illegally taken motor vehicles, particularly those involving contractual disputes over financing and mortgaging arrangements.
The case file has been forwarded to appropriate prosecutors for further legal action. Authorities did not disclose additional details regarding the individuals involved in the mortgage transaction or the current status of the investigation.
