MANILA — The Quezon City Prosecutor's Office has moved to dismiss lawyer Manases Carpio's complaint challenging the disclosure of his bank records and those of his spouse, Vice President Sara Duterte, according to Carpio's counsel Atty. Peter Paul Danao.
Danao indicated that the prosecutor's office has already recommended the dismissal of the case, though he remains awaiting receipt of the official resolution document. The development marks a significant turn in the legal dispute over the Anti-Money Laundering Council's (AMLC) disclosure of the financial documents.
The case centered on whether the AMLC acted within its authority in releasing Carpio's and Duterte's banking information. Carpio had sought legal remedies against what he characterized as unauthorized disclosure of private financial data.
