Quezon City revokes heat suspension memo to align with DepEd rules
The Quezon City government has withdrawn a memorandum on heat-related class suspensions to comply with the Department of Education's unified policy framework. The move affects public schools and child development centers across the city.

QUEZON CITY — Local education officials have rescinded a memorandum circular governing class suspensions due to extreme heat, bringing municipal policies in line with Department of Education directives.
Quezon City issued Memorandum Circular No. 3, Series of 2025, which had outlined modifications to classroom operations for public Child Development Centers and schools from kindergarten through Grade 12. The circular had called for limited face-to-face arrangements during periods of excessive heat.
The city government determined that maintaining separate heat-suspension protocols created confusion and inconsistency across its school system. By aligning local guidelines with DepEd's centralized heat policy, officials aim to establish clearer, more uniform standards for class adjustments when weather conditions warrant.
The revocation ensures that all schools under Quezon City's jurisdiction will now follow the same heat-related suspension protocols established by the national education department, streamlining implementation across public institutions and reducing administrative complications for school principals and teachers.
