The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a thunderstorm advisory at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, alerting residents in six municipalities to expect hazardous conditions. The affected areas include Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Pitogo, Gumaca, and Macalelon, among other localities in the province.
According to Pagasa's assessment, residents should prepare for moderate to heavy rains accompanied by lightning and gusty winds throughout the afternoon and evening hours. The agency advised residents to secure loose outdoor items and avoid outdoor activities during the peak of the weather disturbance.
Local government units in the warned municipalities were expected to coordinate with disaster management officials to ensure public safety. Residents were urged to remain alert to updates from Pagasa and their respective local weather stations for the latest advisory status.
The weather bureau typically issues such alerts when thunderstorms develop rapidly in specific areas, with the potential to cause localized flooding and wind damage. Residents are advised to exercise caution near coastal areas and flood-prone zones during the period of inclement weather.
