Quoc Tu Giam, Vietnam's oldest university established in 1076, is marking its 950th anniversary with a slate of interactive programmes designed to make the institution's rich heritage accessible to contemporary audiences. The activities underscore efforts to bridge the gap between the country's historical educational legacy and modern visitors seeking to understand Vietnam's intellectual traditions.
Among the centrepiece initiatives is an interactive passport programme titled "The Journey of Vietnamese Education - Imprints of Knowledge," which guides participants through the temple's historical significance and educational evolution. The programme invites visitors to engage with the institution's story in an experiential format, allowing them to trace Vietnam's intellectual development across centuries.
Complementing this effort is a photo experience called "Gap go hien tai" (Meeting Talented Scholars), which creates opportunities for visitors to connect with the historical figures and academic traditions that shaped the temple. The exhibition combines visual storytelling with interactive elements to present Quoc Tu Giam's role in Vietnamese society across different historical periods.
The anniversary celebrations reflect broader efforts by Vietnamese cultural institutions to make historical sites more engaging for younger audiences and international tourists. By combining traditional reverence for the temple with contemporary engagement methods, organisers hope to deepen understanding of Vietnam's scholarly heritage among diverse visitor demographics.
