Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday urged Indian youth to continue demonstrating against the government, pledging that his party would work to ensure the defeat of what he termed a constitutionally destructive regime. Speaking at his Chhatron Ki Goonj event in Chennai, Gandhi launched a pointed critique of the Modi administration's leadership structure.
Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval face narrowing political space. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha asserted that cowardice represents the defining characteristic of these figures and their political movement.
Drawing on his extended opposition to Modi and the RSS, Gandhi stated he possessed an intimate understanding of their approach to governance. "I've been fighting Narendra Modi and the RSS for over a decade now. I understand them like you would understand your opponent — inside out, like the back of my hand," he said.
The remarks represent Gandhi's continued effort to mobilise youth support against the central government ahead of upcoming political contests. His comments underscore the Congress party's strategy of positioning itself as the primary opposition force defending constitutional protections against what party leaders characterise as authoritarian governance.
