Congress politician Rahul Gandhi has launched Satyagarh, an online platform intended to provide visibility to citizen-led protests and movements across the country. The platform will serve as a repository for documenting various struggles where, according to Gandhi, truth is being marginalised or suppressed.
Addressing the platform's inauguration, Gandhi emphasised that individual protests and local movements would find representation on what he termed the Satyagarh map. The initiative seeks to create a networked ecosystem where citizens can discover others engaged in similar struggles, fostering broader awareness and potential coordination among disparate movements.
The platform's name invokes Mahatma Gandhi's legacy of non-violent resistance, aligning the initiative with historical precedents of civil disobedience in India. By centralising information about citizen-led campaigns, the platform aims to counter what supporters view as insufficient media coverage of grassroots activism.
The launch reflects the Congress party's efforts to strengthen its grassroots engagement strategy and position itself as a platform for citizens' grievances. Gandhi described the initiative as instrumental in connecting individuals who might otherwise remain isolated in their respective campaigns.
