Rahul Gandhi stages dharna demanding FIR over pellet injuries at Delhi protest

Gandhi, accompanied by Sahil Lochab, the injured youth, first approached Mandir Marg police station seeking registration of the FIR. After officials declined to register the case, Gandhi proceeded to Parliament Street police station to meet with the deputy commissioner of police. Following unsuccessful discussions with the DCP, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha initiated the dharna at the police station premises. Lochab sustained pellet injuries to his eyes and abdomen during the July 20 protest led by the Confederation of Indian Judiciary activists. The 24-year-old underwent surgical treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre following the incident. Gandhi's protest marks a broader Congress effort to hold police authorities accountable for the use of force during the demonstration. The case has drawn attention to questions regarding the use of non-lethal weapons during public protests and police procedures for registering complaints against security forces.
