Rail operator sells out Deepavali tickets as demand surges

KUALA LUMPUR — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has moved more than 100,000 tickets for its ETS and EMUPlus services during the Deepavali period, signalling robust passenger demand as Malaysians prepare for the major festival.

The rail operator recorded the sale of 100,304 tickets across both service categories, with demand outpacing the available seat capacity on scheduled routes. The surge in bookings reflects the traditional spike in inter-city travel that accompanies the Hindu festival celebration.

The ticket availability represents a significant portion of KTMB's operational capacity during the festival window. Travellers seeking to journey during this period are advised to book alternative services or arrange transport accordingly, as the main rail services appear fully committed.

The strong performance underscores the continued reliance on rail transport for domestic travel during major festive occasions. KTMB's ETS and EMUPlus services have established themselves as preferred options for intercity commuters seeking efficient and reliable transport alternatives.
