The Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna visited Shivamogga on Wednesday to review the progress of the new railway line under construction in the region. During the inspection, Somanna expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work and issued a stern warning to the project contractor, indicating that continued delays could result in blacklisting. The contractor would be barred from bidding on future railway projects if performance standards were not met immediately, officials said. Somanna's visit was aimed at assessing ground-level challenges and expediting project completion. The new railway line is considered an important infrastructure development for the Shivamogga district, which falls under the jurisdiction of the South Western Railway zone.
