A Government Railway Police (GRP) constable and a female home guard have been arrested in Hajipur, Bihar, for allegedly hiding alcohol seized from the Garib Rath Express. The contraband—27 liters of foreign liquor—was recovered at Hajipur Junction railway station.
Constable Narendra Kumar Singh and home guard Archana Kumari were taken into custody following the discovery. Surveillance footage from CCTV cameras at the station showed both officials disembarking from the train carrying bags, providing crucial evidence in the investigation.
During interrogation, the two were found to have attempted to conceal the confiscated liquor. Authorities registered cases against them under the Bihar Prohibition Act. Both have been remanded in judicial custody pending further proceedings.
The incident highlights concerns over discipline within railway security personnel tasked with enforcing prohibition laws across Bihar's railway network.
