Acting on intelligence inputs, the RPF and Nemili police conducted separate raids that uncovered an organized drug distribution network operating in the region. The operations, which targeted multiple locations across villages surrounding Arakkonam and Nemili, resulted in the recovery of 16 kilograms of ganja and led to the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in the illicit trade.
Investigations revealed that the accused were engaged in the retail distribution of cannabis, selling small quantities to consumers at public places and residential areas across the nearby villages. The coordinated enforcement action highlights the growing menace of drug peddling in areas around these towns, where traffickers have been exploiting public spaces to conduct their illegal business.
The seized contraband has been placed under custody, and the four arrested individuals are being interrogated to determine the extent of their involvement in the drug supply chain and identify potential higher-level operators. Police said further investigations are underway to establish the source of the consignment and dismantle the larger distribution network.
The joint operation by the two law enforcement agencies marks an intensification of anti-narcotics efforts in the region, as authorities work to curb the growing availability of controlled substances in villages and towns across South India.
