Indian Railways will distribute a performance-linked bonus worth ₹2,009 crore to approximately 11 lakh employees ahead of the Diwali festival season. The bonus announcement coincides with the Centre's efforts to provide financial support to workers during the year-end celebrations.
The performance-linked incentive structure is designed to reward railway staff based on operational metrics and service standards maintained during the fiscal year. The distribution is expected to benefit employees across various cadres within the railway system.
Beyond the railway sector, the government has cleared an expansion of its social security framework targeting vulnerable and economically weaker sections of society. The enhanced programme has been allocated ₹53,000 crore and will remain operational through 2031, indicating a sustained commitment to welfare provisions.
These twin policy moves underscore the government's approach of combining sectoral incentives for organized sector employees with broader social protection schemes. The Diwali bonus distribution comes as part of routine festival benefits extended to central government employees, while the extended social security allocation reflects broader fiscal priorities toward welfare expansion.
