MANILA — Wet weather is set to dominate most parts of the Philippines on Thursday as the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and northeasterly winds maintain their influence over the archipelago, the state weather service said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued the forecast in its early morning bulletin, with weather specialist Chenel Dominguez noting that the combination of atmospheric systems will sustain rainfall across numerous regions throughout the day.

The ITCZ, a band of low pressure that girdles the Earth near the equator, continues to interact with the prevailing northeasterly flow to generate moisture-laden conditions. This setup has been a consistent feature bringing precipitation to the country in recent days.

Residents and communities in rain-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant for potential flooding and landslides. The weather bureau recommends staying updated on further advisories as conditions develop throughout Thursday.
