Cloudy skies are expected to dominate most parts of the island throughout the forecast period, according to the Department of Meteorology's advisory issued at 05:30 a.m. on October 16, 2026.
Showers and thundershowers are anticipated across the Western, Southern, Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and Northern provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura District. The Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces may experience misty conditions during the early morning hours, which could affect visibility in these regions.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution, particularly those in hilly terrain where mist may reduce visibility on roads. The thundershowers may be accompanied by strong winds, and temporary water logging is possible in low-lying areas.
The forecast underscores the monsoon activity currently influencing weather patterns across the island. Residents should monitor further updates from the Department of Meteorology for any changes to the forecast or the issuance of weather warnings.
