The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan police has arrested two men, identified as Pankaj Yadav and Nanjhi Ram Chaudhary, in connection with an alleged scheme to obtain fake medical degrees and practice medicine illegally in the state.
According to police investigations, Yadav initially pursued an MBBS degree from Kazakhstan but failed to clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), a mandatory qualifying test for overseas medical graduates seeking to practice in India. Rather than pursuing legitimate qualifications, Yadav allegedly obtained fraudulent credentials, including a fake degree and transcripts purportedly from a Bihar-based medical college.
Using the forged documents, Yadav reportedly managed to secure registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council, allowing him to practice medicine without proper qualifications. The investigation revealed that Chaudhary was also involved in facilitating the registration process using the counterfeit credentials.
The arrest underscores persistent vulnerabilities in medical credential verification systems and raises concerns about patient safety. Authorities have initiated further investigations to determine the extent of the operation and identify any additional individuals involved in the credential fraud scheme. The Rajasthan Medical Council has been alerted to review registration records and implement stronger verification protocols.
