Rajasthan Police Use AI to Reconstruct Faces of Long-Missing Children

The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Ajmer, Rajasthan, has turned to artificial intelligence technology in an effort to locate two children who have been missing for several years. Using archived photographs from their childhood, investigators commissioned AI-generated images depicting the boys' likely appearance at their current ages.

Mohammad Imran disappeared from Ajmer Railway Station in 2010 at the age of eight years. Osman went missing in 2014 after becoming separated from his mother. Despite years of investigation, neither boy has been traced, prompting authorities to explore advanced technological solutions to revive their cases.

The age-progressed facial reconstructions, created through artificial intelligence algorithms, will be circulated to help the public identify the missing children. The technique uses facial recognition and aging simulation software to project how a person's features would develop over time, providing investigators with realistic images to distribute during renewed search efforts.

The deployment of AI technology in missing persons cases represents an evolving approach by Indian law enforcement agencies seeking to overcome investigative challenges in long-dormant cases. The GRP has made the reconstructed images public in hopes that community members may recognize the boys and provide leads to their whereabouts.
