Rajasthan State Gas expands PNG network in Kota with consumer incentives

Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL) has initiated a concentrated push to expand its piped natural gas (PNG) footprint in Kota, rolling out connection drives designed to attract residential consumers away from conventional cooking fuels. The campaign operates under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board's Drive 3 program, which aims to accelerate PNG adoption across underserved zones.

New household connections registered through the drive will receive incentive vouchers valued at ₹500, the utility said. The offer remains active until December 31, 2026, providing a window for consumers to switch from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other fuels to the piped natural gas network.

The Kota expansion represents part of RSGL's broader strategy to establish LPG-free zones by transitioning domestic consumers to cleaner, more convenient piped gas infrastructure. PNG connections eliminate the need for cylinder purchases and refills while offering cost advantages over time, the company argues.

The initiative aligns with national energy policies promoting the adoption of cleaner cooking fuels and reducing reliance on LPG in urban and semi-urban areas. RSGL has not announced specific consumer targets for the Kota drive, though the extended timeline through 2026 suggests a sustained, phased approach to network expansion in the city.
