Rajasthan to hold phased panchayat elections starting October 23

The Rajasthan State Election Commission has announced a four-phase schedule for panchayat elections beginning October 23, covering newly delimited and reorganised Panchayati Raj institutions across the state. The electoral process will determine elected representatives for 41 Zila Parishads, 457 Panchayat Samitis, and 14,403 village panchayats. The phased approach is designed to facilitate smooth conduct of elections while managing logistics across Rajasthan's diverse geographical terrain. The delimitation and reorganisation of these institutions represents a significant restructuring of local governance frameworks in the state. Officials have initiated preparations to ensure adequate election machinery and personnel are deployed across all polling stations during the scheduled phases. The election schedule provides candidates and political parties with time to mobilise support and present their respective platforms to voters across rural constituencies. Election authorities have indicated that all standard electoral procedures and protocols will be strictly adhered to throughout the four-phase process.
