Rajnath Singh to lead India's delegation at SCO summit

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been designated to represent India at the forthcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of Government meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the proceedings through video-conference, according to official sources.

The two-day summit will convene heads of government and senior representatives from all SCO member states to deliberate on matters of regional cooperation and economic engagement. The forum provides a platform for participating nations to coordinate policies and strengthen multilateral ties across South and Southeast Asia.

India's participation at the ministerial level underscores the country's commitment to the SCO framework, which encompasses eight member states and several observer nations. The meeting is expected to address key regional issues and identify opportunities for enhanced collaboration in trade, security, and development sectors.

The SCO, established in 2001, has emerged as a significant multilateral organisation for fostering dialogue and cooperation among member states on issues ranging from counter-terrorism to economic integration. India's representation through both virtual and in-person attendance reflects the country's continued engagement with the organisation's agenda.
