According to Mishra's analysis of the Panchang, or Hindu calendar, August 28 is the recommended date for celebrating Raksha Bandhan. The determination follows astrological principles that account for planetary positions and sacred timing considerations integral to Hindu festival observances.

Raksha Bandhan, observed primarily across North India and among Hindu and Sikh communities nationwide, traditionally celebrates the bond between siblings. Sisters tie a sacred thread, known as a rakhi, on their brothers' wrists as a symbol of protection and affection, while brothers pledge to safeguard their sisters.
