Ram Temple Trust chief cleared in donation theft probe

The Special Investigation Team constituted to examine allegations of misappropriation of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has given a clean chit to Champat Rai, the Trust's general secretary and principal functionary. The decision comes after a thorough examination of financial records and related documentation.

Former Trust member Anil Mishra has also been absolved of involvement in the alleged theft, according to the SIT's findings. The clearance removes clouds of suspicion that had hung over both individuals since the case was first registered.

Despite the SIT's conclusions regarding Rai and Mishra, a parallel investigation into the donation theft case remains active. Authorities have not provided specific details about the scope or focus of the ongoing second inquiry, leaving some questions about the full circumstances of the alleged misappropriation unresolved.

The Ram Mandir Trust has faced increased scrutiny over its financial management since the temple's consecration in January 2024. The donation case had drawn considerable public attention, given the high-profile nature of the shrine and the substantial funds it receives from devotees across India and abroad.
