The special investigation team probing the Ram Mandir donation theft case has submitted its report, clearing former general secretary Champat Ray and trust member Anil Mishra of involvement in the matter.
According to the investigation findings, the two senior officials were not named among the accused in connection with the alleged misappropriation of temple contributions. The SIT's inquiry narrowed the list of those suspected of criminal involvement to eight individuals.
The Ram Mandir Trust, which oversees the newly constructed temple in Ayodhya, had initiated the investigation after discrepancies were reported in the handling of donations received from devotees. The special team's conclusion regarding Ray and Mishra represents a significant development in what had been a closely watched case given the prominence of those involved in the temple's administration.
The investigation report is expected to form the basis for further action in the case. Authorities have not yet disclosed detailed information about the eight individuals identified as accused or the specific charges they may face.
